Umicore supports the 2nd Nysa Santa Claus Night Run to promote a healthy lifestyle

On 3 December several hundreds of runners took off in the second Nysa Santa Claus Evening Run. Umicore and its sporty runners did not want to miss the run and the opening of the Christmas season on the market square in Nysa!

The evening run attracted runners of all ages from the entire Nysa district. Among the athletes were ten employees from the Umicore plant in Radzikowice who gave their best shot. As a partner of the event, Umicore offered delicious, hot Belgian chocolate to the participating runners.

“We partner with the Nysa Run to motivate our employees to be active and to promote a healthy lifestyle in Nysa and the wider region. Wellbeing is high on the agenda at Umicore and we are happy to see that our employees enthusiastically participate in this sports event,” commented Dariusz Jurczak, managing director of Umicore’s cathode materials plant in Radzikowice.

It’s the fourth time that Umicore sponsored one of the Nysa runs organized by the local sports club. The company’s top priority is to create safe and healthy working and living conditions for its employees and neighbors. Therefore, Umicore is involved in several projects that benefit the Nysa community.

This year’s 5.3 kilometers evening run began and ended at the newly renovated Nysa Market Square. From 7 pm sharp runners had one hour to complete the entire route, which was marked by illuminated streets, including Wrocławska, Kolejowa, Wolności, Piastowska, Krzywoustego and Celna.

“I am glad that I don't have to go to a bigger city for running events. It is great to feel the competitive spirit here in Nysa. The dust has barely settled after the Nysa Run in June, and I again can run in a nice, festive atmosphere, says Dawid Wieczorek, production shift leader at Umicore.
