Sponsorship principles

Umicore in Nysa has set out principles to ensure that sponsorship of local organizations is granted in a fair way. The main principles are described below.

Sustainable development is a key element in our decision making process. Umicore expects all projects and activities to demonstrate that these are organized in a safe way and with respect for nature and people.

Social (education/culture), technological (clean mobility), environmental projects or safety related projects will get priority:

  • Social: focus on educational projects with schools, university colleges or universities in the fields of clean mobility, technology, environment and/or safety
  • Culture: focus on events that have a broad impact in the community and that implement sustainability elements to their event
  • Technological: focus on projects that will help or promote the transition to clean mobility
  • Environmental: initiatives that help reduce the impact on the environment
  • Safety: initiatives that help improve or promote safety in the daily life of citizens and organizations.

Umicore will only sponsor on a project basis and with clearly agreed outcomes in terms of visibility for Umicore.

The company will be under no obligation to justify its reasons for rejecting a request. No assurance is being offered that the request will be favourably received, even though the application may satisfy all the above mentioned sponsorship principles.

The amount of the sponsorship or the type of sponsorship in kind will be decided on a case-by-case basis. Even if Umicore may already have made a contribution for years, it reserves the right to terminate its support at its discretion.

Applications from the following individuals or organizations will not be considered:

  • individuals,
