Another edition of the “Tree for Recyclables” initiative in Nysa

In April, Nysa turned green once again thanks to the “Tree for Recyclables” initiative! The latest edition of the event—organised as a collaboration between Umicore Nysa and Nowa Trybuna Opolska—attracted crowds of residents from the city and surrounding areas, highlighting the real power of collective action for the environment.

Anyone who brought paper waste, used batteries, or small electronic equipment could receive a tree or shrub sapling. In total, we prepared and distributed 1,000 plants.

The available selection included both forest species—such as oaks, beeches, and pines—as well as fruit plants, including apple, pear, cherry, plum trees, blueberries, and raspberries. As in previous editions, fruit saplings proved to be the most popular.

Even before the event began, queues of participants eager to take part were already forming. The collected materials were weighed and counted on-site, after which participants received vouchers exchangeable for saplings. All plants found new owners the very same day.

“This is another edition of the ‘Tree for Recyclables’ initiative, organised in cooperation with Nowa Trybuna Opolska and Galeria Dekada. What makes me most happy is the great engagement of local residents and clear evidence that the community is willing to act for the environment. Moments like this reinforce my belief that collaboration between business, media, and the city truly makes sense—provided it is driven by genuine commitment,”

says Alicja Stafford, communications manager at Umicore Battery Materials

The “Tree for Recyclables” initiative is another example of Umicore’s local engagement, supporting activities that combine environmental care with community involvement.
