Groundbreaking ceremony marks another milestone for Umicore in Nysa
25 February 2020, Radzikowice near Nysa, Poland – Umicore organized a groundbreaking ceremony of its new greenfield plant in Nysa in the presence of CEO Umicore Marc Grynberg, the ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium Luc Jacobs, as well as representatives of the Polish national government and local government institutions.
All guests agreed on the key role that the production facility will play in the development of the local labor market in the entire voivodship. The plant is expected to start production by the end of 2020 and will employ 400 people. It will be the company’s first plant in Europe to produce cathode materials for li-ion rechargeable batteries. Most materials will go into this type of batteries for electric vehicles.
