What you will be doing

Main responsibilities are not only to cover tax compliance work an reporting imposed by law or by the Group but also the management of the very frequent  tax audits, continuous follow-up of the fast changing tax legislation and compliance requirements, expert support and advice to the Business Units and considering the expansive developments of activities in Poland. 
    Stay up-to-date on the latest trends and developments within Polish taxes (VAT, CIT; DAC 6, TP and other taxes that may materially affect Umicore’s tax position like energy taxes, real estate taxes, Tax Policy implementation
    Compliance: Combination of coordination of  compliance activities with the external service provider, as well as execution of internally handled compliance (Balanced)
•    Preparation and filing of the corporate income tax returns
•    Prepare/review (corrective) Standard Audit File and other VAT filings and VAT obligations (eg Split Payment, White List….)
•    Assure proper compliance of all withholding and MDR obligations
•    Follow-up the filing of returns related to other taxes like energy taxes, immovable taxes (and optimise where possible)
•    Assure that the correct application of withholding taxes
    Group Reporting: tax provision and reporting for consolidation purposes
•    Prepare monthly tax calculation and tax reporting and tax forecast.
•    Prepare and manage tax calculation (current and deferred tax) for hard close (April; June, October and year-end) and properly coordinate with Share Finance colleagues for accounting and taxes.
   Tax audits (from tax authorities) for the Polish entities (Umicore Autocat sp z.o.o. and Umicore Poland sp z.o.o.)
   Transfer pricing –prepare and file the transfer pricing formalities. Monitor the correct implementation of the Transfer Pricing Policies of the companies (goods, services and financing)...; 
   Contribute with tax analysis and recommendation to the success of the projects in close connection with the other departments involved.
   Identify and implement process improvements in the current tax compliance and tax return processes.

Who we are looking for

Functional requirements:
    University degree (Economics or law) and additional certificate in tax
    Minimum 5 year of relevant experience in tax management
    Good and broad knowledge of national tax regulations (especially VAT, CIT, TP, withholding taxes, DAC6, Tax incentive schemes, real estate taxes,…)
    Having good insight in accounting logic in ERP systems
    Being familiar with the practical aspects of Polish tax compliance 
    Being more than average skilled in Excel. SAP hands-on experience is a plus
    Languages: Polish (native), English (fluent), German/French/Dutch/Spanish is a plus.

    Strong analytical skills with critical mindset and eager to learn
    Good planning, project management, problem solving and organizational skills.
    Good at creating an atmosphere of mutual respect, trust and cooperation with stakeholders in the critical tax matters.
    Being able to listen and communicate empathically (even under stress) also with  tax content to non-tax specialists.
    Being able to convince and negotiate effectively
